My Mormon buddy
by AloneinOh ini felt compelled to post this to kind of stick up for my buddy a little bit.
i'm not sticking up for mormons....only sticking up for a friend that happens to be a mormon.
some may say he is secretly trying to convert me, but he really is, just a friend that happens to be a mormon.. i am in no way endorsing mormons or have any desire to be one.

Maybe you should change your screen name? You aren't alone. Sounds like you have a very good life long friend.......so does he.
Thanks for the insight.

Sorta freekin' out here?
by kaykay_mp ini feel it occasionally, and i just felt it a minute ago (get your minds out of the gutter).
i'm talking about this little pin-prick sensation i feel at the end of my finger like someone wanted to come along and poke me (hey!
) just for the hell of it.
-

Is it just like one pin prick? or several at once? If it is in one distinct spot it could be a sliver of metal (using steel wool pads?) or more likely glass (pick up any broken glass? ) imbedded deep. It could be trying to move itself out everynow and then. Or when you type or do other things it could be pressing the point deeper. Glass can stay in your body for years but will usually try to work its way out. My Cousin went thru the windshield of a car over 25 years ago and she is still getting glass out of her forehead.
If it is more like tingly then it sounds like it could be a nerve.

"Do what I say, not what I do" witnesses
by JH in.
i remember elders giving talks and giving good advice they didn't even keep themselves.. saying, don't listen to this or that kind of music, and when they get in their cars, that's exactly what's playing on the radio, or when they said to obey the law and then they go faster than the speed limit and say it's ok, i'm just following the other cars.. do you have any other examples of "do what i say, not what i do" witnesses?

Help: I have a dispute with a JW and don't know how to proceed.
by kouzelna ini have a serious business dispute with a jw and it is getting out of control - i need to know if there is any procedure for seeing mediation that he can trust (through your organization, for example).
i am also a serious practicing christian believer, although i am not a jw.
i have no reason to believe that this man is not exactly who he claims to be, as he has always acted honorably, apart from our business together, regretably.

It does sound like you maybe screwed if it is to late to back out of the contract (3 Days in the USA). You signed your name to what was on the contract, not what he may have said before that. If nothing else you could bring it up to his elders that he deceived you but even they need 2 witnesses. Yep sounds like he got you. Get a lawyer.

Self love
by Cath inis there anyone out there who remembers being taught by the wt that love of the self was sinful?
if so will you please point me to a piece of literature which contains that teaching, preferably a scan if possible.
i have a vague memory of hearing something along those lines as a child and don't know if it was part of jw teaching or just something my family taught us.

Cath,
I don't know how to find it anywhere but I think my JW aunt heard about it 40 years or so ago.
I had a cousin who was about 11 at the time, she loved her long blond hair. She spent time taking care of it. I guess she spent too much time looking at it in the mirror and didn't do something she was suppose to do because one day my aunt dragged her by it and took sissors and hacked it all off very short saying it was a sin to love herself that she was conceited. It broke my cousins heart.
It took me many years to even start to forgive my aunt for all the mean things she did to me and my cousins. I thought of her as a Witch. She was a strong JW, but a horrible person.

Be Gentle With Me - Virgin Poster
by TheEdge inchanced upon this website a few days ago, and perhaps spent most of my waking hours (since then) reading, and certainly identifying with, quite a lot of it.
i have also learned a few things i was unaware of - i know this is ''old hat'' to all of you, but i wasn't aware of the un ngo thing.. i was saddened reading many posts - mostly trying to get human compassion (from elders who hold the trump cards - dealt by....?).
i read with interest josephus's post no.313, and goldminer's 1st posting - both drawing attention to how lives have been wasted due to false prohesy - and i thought (after reading how the society is claiming compensation for surviving - or dead!

Welcome to the board "The Edge" glad you found us. Not a bad post at all for a VIRGIN. Hang around I think you'll like it here.
Wouldn't that be something if all the disgruntled "ex-employees" got together and could sue for back wages, overtime and benefits. Hiding behind a non-profit religion, shame on them. Maybe I could get workmans comp for that time I got bite by the dog. It would be great if some legal eagle could find some loop hole to go after them with. False advertisement? Selling a defective product? They are passing it off as something it is not.
